Operational Requirements

As explained in our Software Architecture page, Chat Blazer is essentially a client and server application. Hence, there are two distinct set of requirements. One is for the Chat Blazer chat clients, consisting of the Chat Blazer chat client, administrative manager and optionally the moderator. The other set of requirements pertain to the Chat Blazer server.

Requirements - Chat Blazer clients

• A Java™ enabled web browser with minimum version of 1.1.x for the Java Virtual Machine. Examples of qualified web browsers include, but not limited to, Netscape Navigator 4.x.x, Netscape 5.x, Netscape 6.x, Internet Explorer 4.x.x/5.x.x/6.xx, Mac OS X IE and Netscape with latest MRJ.

Requirements - Chat Blazer server

• Machine running the Chat Blazer chat server must have a minimum of Java™ 1.2.x installed. (If your machine does not have Java installed, you can get it here)
• Minimum 64MB RAM
• 400KB of Hard Disk Space for the installation of the Chat Blazer software files.
• Network connection with allowable port passage, if running Chat Blazer behind corporate firewall(s).
• Windows 2000/NT/95/98, HP Unix, AIX, Digital Unix, Free BSD, BSDI, Linux, Alpha, Cobalt, and other Unix variants, Mac.
