After you have started the Chat Blazer Gold server, the next step will be to start up the Chat Blazer Gold client. Please follow the steps below to start up the Chat Blazer Gold client:

  1. Launch your web browser application (e.g. Microsoft Internet Explorer, Netscape)
  2. If you have started the chat server on your virtual or remote machine, please enter the URL pointing to the cbclient.htm file installed on your remote server.  E.g. http://www.mydomain.com/chat/cbclient.htm. You should see the page loading the chat client applet. Click on the Connect button.
  3. If you have started the chat server on your local machine, you would need to open the file "cbclient.htm" using the Open File... utility within the browser software. Navigate to the directory where you had previously installed the Evaluation files to. If you encounter a Connection Failure error message, most probably, you are using Internet Explorer. IE does not allow locally run applets to connect back to the same machine. If this happen, you can either:

    Run a web server.

Example of common web servers are Microsoft Personal Web Server, IIS, WebSite Professional, Apache Web Server.

Configure the web server to point the web root directory to the directory where the cbclient.htm file is stored. In the browser location bar, type "http://localhost/cbclient.htm".

OR.... Download Java 1.4 plugin for IE

http://java.sun.com/getjava/download.html

After you have installed JRE v1.4.x on your machine, go to Internet Explorer and select Tools from the top menu. Next, click on "Internet Options..." and followed by the "Advanced" tab. You should see a list of options with checkboxes. Scroll to the section titled "Java (Sun)". Check the box "Use Java 2 v1.4.0".

Click on OK. You need to close your browser and launch the chat client again. Ensure that the Chat Blazer server is already started.
